Browning Management commenced trading in Melbourne, 1968 as Michael Browning Enterprises, at the height of Melbourne’s heady swinging 60’s discotheque boom.

Michael, still in his teens, was co-owner and house booker for the legendary Sebastians. He soon opened his own booking agent and personally represented some of Australia’s leading cutting edge bands including Python Lee Jackson, Doug Parkinson in Focus and many more.

In 1970 Michael joined forces with Michael Gudinski and created Australia’s leading booking agency, Consolidated Rock. Michael ventured into artist management and signed the once super pop stars Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, and re-invented them as a rock band of enormous proportions.

In 1973 Michael, along with partners Bill Joseph and Rodney de Gruchy, opened Melbourne's original Hard Rock Cafe. This live music venue in the heart of Melbourne was where he first discovered AC/DC, signing them to a management deal and taking them to international success.

In 1980 Michael created Deluxe Records and Publishing, signing INXS and other local Australian bands.

In 1984 Michael signed yet another iconic Australian band, Noiseworks, followed by a string of other successful artists.

At the request of book publishers he wrote his best selling memoir Dog Eat Dog, re-kindling his passion for Artists Management. An industry in which the fundamentals remain the same. The vehicles new and interesting and the world the oyster.
